Menstrual Cycle Safe Days

To calculate your menstrual cycle, you need to track your period for 3 months. You can do this

by counting the number of days from the first day of your period to the day before your next period. let us assume your period started on february 1 and your next period started on March 1. It means that from February 1 to February 28 is 28 days. The next day being March 1 is the beginning of your next period.

Do this calculation for 3 months and get the average. So if you got for instance, 28 days cycle in your first month, 30 days in the second month and 32 days in your third month, your average cycle is calculated by adding 28days + 30 days + 32 days = 90days

Then divide 90days by 3 which will give you 30days. It means your menstrual cycle is 30days. If you tracked your period for 4 months. You add up number of cycles each month for 4 months then divide the total by 4 to get your average.

Now that you know your cycle days, here is how to calculate your safe days.

Your safe days mean that if you meet with your husband in your safe days you will most likely not get pregnant.

So let us refer to our previous calculation on finding out your average menstrual cycle. In the example above, the menstrual cycle was tracked for 3 months starting from February 1. Remember we got 28days in our first month, 30days in the second month and 32days in the third month.

This shows that 28 days was the shortest cycle while 32 days was the longest cycle.

To get the first day of your unsafe days, deduct 18 days from your shortest cycle. From the example above, your shortest cycle is 28 days.

28 days minus 18days = 10

Therefore, day 10 of your menstrual cycle is the first day of your unsafe days or first day of your fertile window.

To get the last day of your unsafe days or fertile window, deduct 11 days from your longest cycle. From the example above, your longest cycle is 32 days.

32 days minus 11 days = 21

Therefore, day 21 of your menstrual cycle is the last day of your unsafe days or last day of your fertile window..

So, lets say your period started on February 1 and stopped on day 5 which is February 5, it means that from February 10 to February 21 is your unsafe days or fertile window. If you meet with your husband within this time you may get pregnant. Any other day outside this window not including your days of menstruating are your safe days.

For the best calculations of your fertile window it is always best to ask your doctor.
