Implantation Bleeding: Causes, Symptoms and Timing

Implantation bleeding is an early sign of pregnancy. It occurs when a

fertilized egg attaches itself to the lining of the uterus. The attaching process is what causes implantation bleeding.

Implantation bleeding should happen between day 10 to day 12 or 14 of a woman's cycle. Some women see it and believe it is the onset of their monthly period which it is not.

Implantation bleeding is very light and noticed as a scanty stain on your panty liner or on your tissue when you wipe. The spotting stops without being followed by a heavy flow. This is the major difference between implantation bleeding and period.

Implantation bleeding is also a good sign that implantation was successful. If it was not successful, the light spots of blood will get heavier which indicates you are on your period.

Implantation bleeding lasts for only a day. For some it can linger to the second day and thats it.

Implantation bleeding does not have a particular color. It can be brown, orange or even pink. There are no clots or tissue in implantation bleeding.

Implantation occurs between 6 to 10 days after ovulation or fertilization.

Symptoms of Implantation Bleeding:

 Your nipples get sensitive

 Mild cramping

Sometimes headaches

Dizzyness (not all the time)

Sometimes no symptoms
