There are so many beauty and health benefits of Honey but I honestly underestimated the powers
of honey when it came to providing a quick calming effect to pain arising from skin burning sensation.
I recently had a terrible fall from the stairs in my home. Looking at the damage done to the right side of my body as a result of this fall, I realized how easy it is for someone to die just by falling off the stairs.
Fast forward to a week after this fall, the pain, redness or should I say blood clots on my body remained almost the same.
In my quest for a calming feeling the doctor recommended a medicated Emulgel.
I quickly applied this gel without any hesitation. All I wanted was a quick way to ease the discomfort I was feeling.
Applying this emulgel was one of the biggest mistakes I made. Terrible mistake! I remember I went to sleep after applying it and honestly believed that by the next morning I will wake up feeling better.
How wrong was I. I woke up in the middle of the night with excruciating pain. I felt this skin burning sensation that you only need to experience it to understand. When I say 'skin burning sensation' I mean your skin burning as if set on fire.
I didn't associate this development to the emulgel I applied. I innocently applied more of the emulgel on it thinking it will help calm the pain. It did not. Infact, it worsened. I took a very active pain killer, it did nothing to reduce the pain.
The pain did not subside even by the following evening. My mother called and suggested applying honey on it just as a quick fix.
I pulled out a bottle of honey from the kitchen shelve and literally poured it on the area.
I instantly felt a lot better. And with time the pain subsided.
Why did I get such a quick relief from the skin burning pain just by applying honey?
The simple answer is that Honey is a natural healer.
