Bird Flu (Avian Influenza)

Bird Flu is a viral disease that affects birds, animals and humans.

How to get bird flu

You can get bird flu when the saliva, mucous or feces of infected birds gets to the eyes, nose or mouth of a person. 

It can be carried by air, dust or even hands that have touched the virus touches the face

Once infected, it takes between two to eight days for the symptoms to start showing.


Common Symptoms

Common symptoms of Bird Flu include sore throat, runny nose. 
More severe symptoms are shortness of breath, bleeding gums in the mouth, blood in stool, fever and body aches. 

Treatment of Bird Flu (Influenza)

You can take Vitamin C rich food

Keep your body hydrated at all times by taking fluid preferably water as often as recommended

Take enough rest

Include herbs in your diet such as taking enough garlic, ginger, cayenne pepper, tumeric, green tea, olive leaf extract, astragalus, echinacea (contains ethanol which can be extracted used. The leaves  can be dried or used fresh in tea and consumed three times a day), inhaling oregano oil.

These can help treat mild symptoms of bird flu

More severe symptoms should be managed by a doctor.
