No More Eating Expired Eggs - DIY Egg Freshness Test

Eggs are readily available all around us. Even in small kiosks in remote villages, you can find
eggs to buy.
When you travel by road sometimes you will find hawkers carrying boiled eggs to sell to travellers.
How sure are you that you are buying fresh eggs?

How will you know if it is safe for you?

It is unsafe to buy boiled eggs or fried eggs from unknown vendors. The fact is that you do not know what you are consuming. Even the people selling these eggs do not know the difference between fresh eggs and bad eggs. Once they see eggs, they buy them to sell or cook in restaurants to sell to customers.

Here is an easy way to test for the freshness of eggs.

You will need a deep bowl and water enough to fill 3/4 of the bowl.

You will also need the eggs you want to test for freshness.

Direction:

Fill the bowl with water.
Carefully place the eggs in the water.
Pay attention and watch what happens to the eggs.

If they quickly sink to the bottom of the bowl and lay flat it means they are fresh eggs.

If they sink to the bottom of the bowl but the eggs are in a standing position at the bottom of the bowl, you can still eat them but it has to be immediately or within a day.

If the eggs stay afloat in the bowl, you need to throw them away as this signifies that they are expired eggs
