Remedy for prolonged Shingles pain

Shingles

Shingles is a painful skin rash caused by the Varicella Zoster Virus which also causes Chickenpox.

Shingles form blisters from the back and extends towards the breast area. When you treat chickenpox, the virus does not really go away, it lies dormant in the nerve tissues in your body then resurfaces much later in life as shingles. Shingles can develop due to stress, weak immune system, age (50 years and older) etc.

Few people are lucky to have shingles go away in few months but for some, the pain continues even after the blisters have cleared. This condition is called Postherpetic Neuralgia. This is extremely painful. Most times patients are given dozens of strong pain relief drugs but these drugs may be harmful to the major organs of the body.

Here are some safe ways to deal with Postherpetic Neuralgia:

1. The aim of this technique is to keep the virus in remission by knocking out residual pain. According to Dr. Eric Berg, this is achieved by working on the mirror image side of the shingles. First, find the position of the shingles. Then locate the exact opposite area of the shingles. For instance, if the shingles is below your right breast, then the exact opposite location is the same area below your left breast. Get someone to massage this non-affected replica area for 3 minutes.
As Dr. Berg explained, 'There is a stock flow of pain through the brain and by pressing the opposite side you are sending signals up to the brain because the nerve that goes down to the affected area actually crosses through the spinal column and connects to the opposite side. So they are in the same circuit. So if you work on the other side of the circuit, you can knock out pain in the actual area affected by shingles which neutralizes that stock flow of pain."
The next question is, what do you do to keep it in remission? He said that,
"The adrenal gland(stress gland) is on top of the kidney - The adrenals control the susceptibilty to viral infarctions. That is why when you go through stress and you knock out the adrenal gland, the virus will come out in remission. So what you can do over time is to start building up the adrenals. Do things to improve your adrenals to really keep the virus in remission. People who have shingles have week adrenals.
A quick treatment is Vitamin D3 (dont use Vitamin D2). You need 50,000IU of Vitamin D3 a day. This is because Vitamin D is intimately connected to the immune system. So when you increase Vitamin D, you can push the virus back in remission.
Anytime you take Vitamin D3, you need vitamin K2 500mg (mk7 version) because they work together. If you take too much of Vitamin D, you will get soft tissue calcium deposits in the wrong places. So K2 drives calcium in the right places in the bone.
Take all in the morning."

2.   Calamine Lotion: reduces pain and itchiness. Also helps dry out the blisters.

3.    Lysine: prevents the absorption of Arginine which the shingles virus needs to stay active. Take 1000mg up to 3 times a day.

4.    Take a healing bath: add 1 to 2 cups of colloidal oatmeal or cornstarch into lukewarm bath water and soak the affected area or your body in it for 20 minutes.

5.   Alcohol-Salt-water solution: Mix 25% Alcohol with a little salt and water. Carefully apply this on the affected area every 2 hours. It helps to relieve the pain

6. This product is also good. It relieves the pain for 4 hours when applied on the affected area. The only down side to it is the strong smell of menthol. But some users say the menthol smell is nothing compared to the instant relief it gives.
