JOJOBA OIL

Jojoba oil is derived from the seed of

Jojoba Plant. Other names for Jojoba oil are pignut, goatnut and wild hazel. This plant originates from Mexico, california, Australia. In Africa, it is grown in Namibia and Kenya.

Jojoba plant takes 10 years to reach harvesting stage. From then on the plant can remain productive for up to 200 years.

It is high in fatty acid with a very high content of Eicosenoic acid or gondoic acid which is a monounsaturated omega-9 fatty acid.

Jojoba seed is quite oily since the oil makes up half of the entire seed. It is said to be colorless but you can see that it has a clear golden color to it so I can't say it is colorless. For it to be colorless, it may have been decolorized which affects its purity.

It has long shelf life of up to five years. It is not digestible.

It does not require refrigeration. Putting it in the fridge will congeal it but this may not affect it's properties. Once you put it back in room temperature, it should melt back to its original form.

Purity of JoJoba Oil

Pure Jojoba oil in a transparent glass is pure, unrefined and seen to be clear with a golden color and zero sign of impurities. If you notice a rancid smell or the color is dark, it is bad. Do not use it.

Pure Jojoba Oil should be cold-pressed.

Uses

For acne:

Jojoba Oil contains iodine. Iodine is antibacterial which treats breakouts. Jojoba oil can be used on acne.

For hair;

Jojoba oil prevents dryness and split ends thereby aiding hair growth. Pure Jojoba oil also treats dandruff superbly well.

When you mix Jojoba oil, Castor Oil and Argan Oil together, this works wonders on the hair to grow, moisturise and shine the air. Simply mix equal parts together to form your regular hair oil.

For a faster hair growth, try adding rosemary, cedarwood, lavender and thyme to the mixture.

For skin:

Jojoba oil is hypoallergenic, moisturises the skin and suitable to mildly lighten the skin. Jojoba oil can also be mixed with your regular face cream.

Jojoba oil works as a carrier oil for Vitamin E oil. Mix together and apply on skin as an overnight skin moisturiser.

Jojoba oil makes your perfume last longer. Apply it lightly on the skin and place the perfume over it. The scent is gradually released which makes your perfume stay on skin longer. Vaseline can also help achieve same long lasting effect just that Vaseline is quite greasy.

Side effects

Jojoba oil does not have major side effects but the fact that it is indigestible makes consuming it a risk. Taking it should be avoided.

Jojoba oil can cause mild irritations on the skin for some people.
